Sprucing up your home with easy do-it-yourself home décor projects can be an inexpensive project that can be completed in one weekend or even in just a few hours. Stores such as Lowe’s and Home Depot have many products for your DIY home décor projects, with online coupons to help keep costs low. Here are some DIY projects that are easy and inexpensive.

 1. Add Area Rugs

Yes, this DIY project is definitely simple but is enough to get you started in updating your home. Area rugs add warmth to hardware floors and color to any room. Rugs have a way of bringing the colors and décor of a room together into a cohesive pattern. With area rugs at an amazing $22.50 at RugSale, this upgrade is unbelievably affordable!

 2. Add Mirrors

Adding mirrors to walls is an excellent way to open up a room. Mirrors give the appearance of a larger space and add interest to a wall. Home Depot has a varied selection of plain and fancy mirrors starting at around $30. They have styles from cool deco to cherry cheval mirrors to dress up any room.

 3. Re-upholster Chairs

Reupholstering a chair gives you a whole new piece of furniture. HomeDecorators has a variety of fabrics from which to choose. If you’re not interested in taking on this project, make it even simpler by purchasing ready-made slip covers for chairs. Depending on the type of chair and material purchased, these covers can range from $19 to $300, which might be less inexpensive than upholstery fabric, which can cost around $30 per yard.

4. Redo Cabinets

One quick DIY kitchen or bathroom project is to switch out old cabinet or drawer pulls for new ones. Choose from a wide variety of pulls and knobs starting as cheap as $1, with most costing under $5 each. All you need is a screwdriver to change them out. Pick up a gallon of paint for about $30 to repaint cabinets, and you will have a totally new look.

5. Make Your Front Door Inviting

Sprucing up your front door is an easy DIY home décor project. Select the right kind of paint for doors. Add a nice welcome mat outside the door for $10, with a couple of potted plants gracing the steps or walkway. This easy project will cost about $75 with everything you need at Lowe’s.

6. Add an Accent Wall

Many homes have accent walls that catch the eye and make the room really pop! Consider the wall behind the bed’s headboard, the wall behind the couch, or a recessed wall somewhere in the house. Pick something darker than the color of the room—I see a lot of people use red—and slap it on that wall. What a difference you’ll see for just the cost for a can of paint (about $30) that can be found at any Home and Garden store.

 7. Update Lighting

Updating lighting is an easy DIY project to brighten up your home while changing your décor. Add lamps for the simplest fix, or install a fancy chandelier. Lowe’s has some gorgeous chandeliers starting at under $100 that come with instructions for wiring. Reviews claim it’s an easy job. Vanity fixtures in the bathroom are inexpensive and another way to upgrade and add decorative value.

 8. Replace Floor Tiles

Old tiling can be easily changed by replacing it with adhesive square tiles. Stick-on tiles are easy to install on smooth bases, such as concrete. These tiles can even be stuck on over existing linoleum. Now, that is easy! At Home Depot, 12 by 12 inch tiles start at only 99 cents per tile.

 9. Add Shelving

Adding shelving gives places to display pictures or coveted collections. Choose your shelving and location, and look around at Home Depot or Lowe’s to select your styles from plain to more decorative. Most wall-mounted sets include hardware and instructions.

10. Label Canisters and Other Storage

I saved this DIY home décor project for last because it is one of the easiest and coolest little projects I’ve found. Plus it’s free! Lowe’s has decorative labels for plain canisters and storage containers that you can download and print right at home. There are large ones for canisters and small ones for spice jars. This is quite a find, and a DIY home décor project I will be tackling soon!

Seeing how easy and inexpensive some enhancements to the home can be makes me want to do some of my own.  When you’re ready to try some of your own easy DIY home décor projects, look into these Lowe’s coupons and other PromoCode4Share stores that provide tools or materials for DIY projects.

March-27-2013 Frugal living tips

by Vicki Hodges

Need tips on how to have a wedding on a budget? Many couples spend more money on their wedding day than they do on their first year of mortgage payments. Okay, that may be a stretch for some, but not for everyone. In an economy where money is tight, every couple could use some money saving wedding tips to help stretch their wedding budgets. By utilizing the following wedding planning tips, couples will have more money to spend on their lives together, maybe even on that down payment for their first house. Here are seven tips on how to have a wedding on a budget.

Tip # 1: How to Find Discounted Wedding Dresses

The wedding dress is often one of the larger expenses to curtail in keeping a wedding on budget, but it doesn’t have to be. If you really want to save money on your wedding, and your mom or grandmother would love for you to wear their old wedding dress, try it on. Vintage style clothing is really in vogue these days, and Mom’s dress just might be the perfect fit. Many brides opt for a more casual wedding and choose a nice dress that can be worn in the future for other occasions. Buying such a dress is practical and costs much less than most wedding dresses. If you are dead set on having your very own wedding dress, shop around, especially online. Online stores are competitive, and can offer major sales on wedding dresses that can’t often be found in physical stores. Bebe Promo Code Bridal can save you up to an additional 75% off on their gorgeous wedding dresses and accessories.

Tip #2: Go Cheap on Wedding Shoes and Accessories

As far as accessories go, think about who will even see your shoes. I have known many brides to take advantage of this fact and purchase inexpensive white (or other colored) shoes or even comfortable flats to wear under their long wedding dresses. Jewelry is another area in which to save money. Ever hear the wedding saying of having “something old, something new, something borrowed, something blue”? Borrow classic pearls or other vintage jewelry from Mom or another relative or friend. It could give a unique look to the wedding day attire while costing nothing.

Tip #3: Free Wedding Invitations

These days, handwritten invitations are not necessarily required. Many savvy computer users are opting to email invitations to save postage and even set up events on Facebook to which invited guests can respond. Free wedding invitations are definitely a way to save and keep your wedding on a budget.

Tip #4: Cheap Wedding Supplies and Decorations

Save on wedding supplies by shopping at dollar stores. Pick up cheap colored napkins, paper plates, cups, and plastic ware. Often, these stores stock a number of inexpensive decorations, such as silk flowers, streamers, and balloons. Finding items to suit your style at discount stores will save literally hundreds of dollars on wedding supplies. Instead of flowers everywhere, you might consider fresh flowers from someone’s garden used sparingly to give the wedding a simple and personal touch. Using potted plants to freshen up the area could be a cheaper and unique option, as well.

Tip #5: Cheap Wedding Favor Ideas

Want some cheap wedding favor ideas for the guests? Purchase candles, small photo frames, or bagged candies for a token of your appreciation. If you want to go online for these, American Bridal Promo Codes   can help you save on wedding supplies, including party favors for as low as 86 cents! Now, that’s a way to have a wedding on a budget, for sure!

Tip #6: Save on Wedding Cakes and Food

Having a wedding doesn’t mean that the happy couple has to feed everyone who attends. Planning the wedding in the afternoon instead of around lunch or dinnertime will not require that a meal be served. Serving guests can run into hundreds, even thousands, of dollars very quickly. For the afternoon, just have the traditional wedding cake and a few side items, such as mixed nuts and mints. Since wedding cake from a bakery can run into a big expense, consider having someone you know make a nice cake. Many brides are now opting for cupcakes, too, which could be even easier than decorating a fancy cake. Find an easy punch recipe to mix up, and the food for the reception is ready—and cheap!

Tip #7: Save on Wedding Photos

Couples have been known to spend thousands of dollars on wedding photos. While one wedding picture may be displayed in a frame in the couple’s home, the rest are usually stuck in an album that few people ever see. Check around to see if you can find someone who does photography on the side. Sure, you want quality photos, so ask for samples and hire someone with a good portfolio and reputation. Using these wedding photography tips by hiring a part-time photographer or one just starting out can save another thousand or more on your wedding budget.

Tip #8: How to Have a Wedding Reception on a Budget

The wedding reception is important to allow friends and families to mingle and celebrate. If all that is planned is to mingle and have cake, the planning is simple. If live music and dancing is the plan, then it’s all going to cost more. Shop around for local bands and DJ pricing. If you know someone who can play the type of music you want, whether live or electronically, then you can save even more money. Limit how long the reception is to last. The longer it goes on, the more appetizers you will need to have available. And, remember, if you serve alcohol, make sure it’s a cash bar for your guests.

These money saving wedding tips can save thousands of dollars and allow you to have a beautiful wedding while on a tight budget. What are the best shoes for men to wear with jeans? While many men wouldn’t even think about such a choice, more men are becoming fashion-conscious as they realize there are many styles and colors of shoes from which to choose. What women have known since the beginning of time, men are just starting to learn, and that's that there are different kinds of shoes that are necessary for every occasion! Being a man doesn’t mean being limited to only a few pairs of shoes, yet I have known men to have only two pairs: dressy and casual. That’s very limiting. Different shoes for different outfits can make or break the look. Paired with jeans, the right shoe can give off the perfect look. With an Arthur Beren footwear coupon for their fine assortment of shoes, men call pull off a number of casual and dressy looks. And a Drjays shoes coupon is the best way to find the perfect casual sneaker with hundreds of selections. The best shoes for men to wear with jeans depends on the type of jeans worn, the occasion, and one’s own personal style.

Sneakers

Buyers Picks, Circa 50 Classic Sneakers (used with permission)Sneakers, or tennis shoes, are popular with everyone who wants to wear a comfortable shoe. Now, I’m not talking about a shoe that would be worn to the gym for a workout. I’m talking about a fashion sneaker. It will give the same comfort and support as a gym shoe, perhaps, but look great with a pair of casual jeans. If you’re looking at a day of being out and doing lots of walking, a fashionable pair of sneakers may be just the thing.

These look especially good with casual jeans, even those faded and holey ones. Just throw on a T-shirt, and you’ve got the perfect, casual look. With a DrJays shoes coupon in hand, there are many colors and styles of sneakers available to meet any man’s personal preference.

Boots

Via Lungarno by UGG Australia (used with permission)

Boots seem to be gaining in popularity with both women and men these days. While there are those cowboys that love their cowboy boots with straight jeans, more men are finding that short boots are versatile and work for more than just a rodeo! Arthur Beren shoes carry short boots that are fashionable and go with just about any kind of jeans, especially darker jeans for a dressier look. As long as the jeans can go over the boot, it’s a great combination and can be dressy or casual. Wearing a button-up shirt is enough to dress up this look.

Oxfords and Lace-Ups

Windsor Oxford by To Boot NY (used with permission)Arthur Beren footwear coupons are also great for picking out oxfords and other lace-up shoes that offer more of a dressy look, even moreso than boots. They are often worn with pants and suits, but they also make a dressy pair of jeans look spectacular.

Paired with a jacket over a darker, newer looking pair of jeans, a darker color of Oxford shoes can really make a pair of jeans dressy. Sticking to brown or black shoes will keep the shoes from standing out too much but rather will blend in for a sharp looking outfit.

Sandals

Sam Fisherman Sandal by Mephisto (used with permission)

Sandals are totally opposite from the oxfords and boots in terms of a dressy style. Some men are certainly not comfortable in sandals that bare those gnarly toes. Still, there are those who opt for the freedom of sandals in the summertime. Sandals can be as flimsy as the popular flip-flop, but they are also made much dressier and sturdier. A nice, supportive, leather sandal can be thrown on with a pair of casual jeans for a day or evening on the town.

For faded or scrungy jeans, a very casual sandal would work just fine. And men, remember: it is a huge fashion faux pas to wear socks with sandals. Just don’t do it!

Slip-ons

Tigri Slip-On by Salvatore Terragamo (used with permission)Who doesn’t love a slip-on shoe? These are so convenient, so easy, as they can be slipped into without untying laces. Slip-ons such as boat shoes can be worn with a new, dressy pair of jeans, or moccasins can pair with jeans for a more casual look.

Some slip-ons even mock sneakers with just a bit of loose laces. Whatever your preference, slip-ons are great with jeans for different looks and style preferences. Just slip on and go!

Burnished Shoes

What are burnished shoes, you ask? Burnished shoes, with their worn, leathered look, are the latest trend and growing in popularity. This classy, cool look has been taken to by big-name celebrities, even. If you’ve worn a pair of leather shoes for a while, you may already have the burnished look, as these new shoes are made to look aged. They are not appropriate with fancy suits but are perfect for casual wear. Burnished shoes can be purchased in many of the styles mentioned in this article, from boots and oxfords to lace-ups and slip-ons. This style is perfect with jeans of any kinds with its worn, comfortable look.

Okay, men, so it’s time to splurge on more shoes and spice up that jean wardrobe with some new stylish footwear. The best shoes to wear with jeans can fit in the budget with some online coupons. An Arthur Beren footwear coupon gives the option of all of the above available with online savings. And if you’re looking for that perfect sneaker, a  DrJays shoes coupon will help save on hundreds of colors and styles for that perfect look. Don’t delay! It’s time to lead the pack in fashion and save on the best shoes to wear with your jeans.

Finding the best clearance deals at Target If you love shopping, you know that nothing is quite as satisfying as scoring the perfect deal on you the items that you have wanted all season, like Target clearance furniture. Target is known for its clearance deals, and if you can time the shopping right you should be able to walk out knowing that you paid pennies on the dollar for some of the cutest clothes and most popular toys of the season. You can find clearance sections in nearly every department of the store. Learn the best ways to score deals on nearly everything that you may need from Target.

What to Look For

You will need to keep your eyes open to find the clearance items at Target. In the clothing sections, the clearance racks are generally towards the back of each section with a clearance or sales sign on top them when the signs says fifty percent or more off, you know that you have found a great deal. Another key is to do a sweep around the perimeter of the store and look at the end caps. These often have the best clearance deal on them. Clearance deals are not on the main aisles, but you may want to do a sweep down the end caps that run along another shelf, as well. You can find Target clearance furniture on a clearance row in the furniture section. You can find deals on everything from camping gear to toys along these sections.

When to Look

The key to finding the best clearance deals is to know when to look. You can find toys on clearance in January, and summer toys on clearance in August and September. The clothes for the previous season go on clearance when they bring in the new clothing, so winter clothes generally go on clearance in March and summer clothes in August. Understanding the sales cycles is key to scoring the best possible deals on your clearance items. If you are unsure about an item, and you see several still left on clearance, wait and it will eventually be marked down even more, which can make the decision to buy the item even easier. You can also look for candy and seasonal items in the week after each holiday. One of the best times to stock up on candy is the day after a holiday.

Best Time to Shop

The best time to shop is early in the morning. The night crew usually completes the major stocking and moving around of items. Getting there early in the morning can help you score the best deals and snatch up multiples of each item that is on clearance. If you have coupons for money off of each purchase or you use your Target card to save ten percent on each purchase, you can really have the savings add up. Just remember to pay your bill off completely or you will end up paying more in interest than you actually save on the purchase. Most Targets will mark down Home items on Thursdays, which means you can find the best deals on Target clearance furniture on Thursdays. If you hit the clearance areas each week, you should be able to find good deals on a regular basis.

Finding the best clearance deals at Target

Sorting to Find the Treasures

The best deals are not going to be easy to find. It does take time to carefully sort through all of the hangers on the rack to find the best deals. Often other shoppers will hide items in the wrong size or things get sorted wrong. Take time to sort through everything, and every size to make sure that you are not missing anything. Some of the best deals are hidden between the two bright and loud extra large skirts. Similarly when you are looking at the end caps look behind the first items on the shelves to see what else is hidden, you can also look through the items hanging on the racks to see if you can score an even better deal. The prices should be clearly marked on each item so that you know just how much you are going to pay at the register.

Don't Forget to Look Online

Many people forget that most major retail stores also have an online store. You can find great deals at Target.com that can help you save even more money. If you shop carefully, you can find coupons that help you save money on shipping and on your overall purchase price. The online store often has even better deals and a wider selection of clearance items then you would find in your brick and mortar store. Additionally, it is easier to check back every day to find new items that have been added to the list. If you shop correctly and know your size, you should be happy with the savings you get at Target. Don’t forget to look online to find some the best deals on Target clearance furniture.

When is the best time to buy a tv

When we wanted a new tv for our family I wondered when is the best time to buy a TV? I knew you could save a lot of money by buying your television at the right time of the year. With some research I found out the best time of the year to buy a TV. If you know that you will be purchasing a television in the next few months, you can determine whether you can wait for the best prices in order to score a good deal on a television set.

The prices can vary slightly by region. Additionally, the features of the television, such as HD, being Internet ready, or having it be a 3D television will also affect the price. The brand of the television is also a big factor in the price. However, you can buy the best brands at great prices when you shop at the right time of year.

Buy a TV in the Spring

After researching I determined that spring is the best time to buy a television set. The stores are ready to clear out old stock for the new models that are announced at trade shows in January. When people ask when is the best time to buy a TV, you can tell them that April is the best month to look for a deal in local stores and online. You can use television coupons, in addition to clearance prices, to get really good deals on a television set.

This is the best time to get deals on name brand top of the line televisions sets. The models that go on sale now are better than the ones that are marked down during the other sells during the year. Stores are trying to make room for the new stock that is coming in. If you are willing to buy a television that is last year’s model, you should be able to get a really good deal. You can review the tradeshows to learn which models will be on sale.

Buy a TV on Black Friday

Another option is to buy a television with a Black Friday sale, or an after Christmas sale or Super Bowl sale. The Black Friday sales give you the best deal out of the three options listed. The downside is that the brands that usually go on sale are usually the lower end brands, or the televisions do not have all of the features as the top of the line televisions in the brand.

If you are not picky about the features, but you just want a reliable television that works, you can score a good deal on a television at these stores. You may have to fight a crowd to get these televisions, but the savings can be worth getting up early and fighting the crowd. You may want to check to see if the television deals are available online, as well.

You can find deals on televisions on all of the major shopping sites during the spring.

Finding the Best Deal on a TV

Once determined the best time to shop, we had to choose the best television for our our money. You want to find the sweet spot where you are getting the best possible result for your money. You should think about the features that you will actually use, and the ones that just sound cool. For example, a 3D television can be appealing. However, if you seldom watch movies at home, it may not be the best investment. This is a good option for movie watchers and some gamers since these are the platforms that have 3D content now. The size of the television can also contribute to the overall price. The best size to buy price wise is about 50 inches. After that the price goes up significantly, and most people find that a 50-inch television will work well for them.

You can also find affordable quality televisions at the 36-inch size, if you are not looking for a huge television or you want a smaller television for your bedroom or kitchen. The quality of the picture will also affect the price. Take the time to read reviews about the different televisions and check out the working models at the store.

What are some of your ideas for an inexpensive Mother’s Day gift?

There she is, your mom. The person who raised you and loved you and who can comfort you best and can annoy you the most. Dealing with your mom when you're all grown up can be challenging. She took eighteen years out of her life to raise you. Whatever you are today, whatever you have achieved,...you owe to your mom because there are always amazing things she has done silently for you. Maybe you're looking for a little time you could carve out to repay that huge kindness.

“At the moment, there are around 2 billion mothers in the world. On average, each mom has 2 babies. It is estimated that a middle-income mom may spend nearly $250,000 to raise a new child over the next 18 years. During the economic depression, mothers are willing to take a second job to make sure that their kids can go to the best schools.

As Honore de Balzac said: “A mother who is really a mother is never free’’, nowadays there is a little leisure time in a typical day of a working mom. On average, a mom needs to pay attention to her child every 4 minutes as well as do 88% of laundry. Aside from that, moms can do the strangest and greatest things for their little babies.

However, above all things, moms always do them all for free. Deep down inside, moms truly want a real day off rather than any kinds of jewelry. Also, there are many ways we can make our moms happy.”

Mother’s Day is a great day to spoil Mom with breakfast in bed or a special brunch where she doesn’t have to do all the cooking. Here are six easy Mother’s Day brunch ideas that any mother is sure to enjoy. Most of these ideas are simple enough for children to make or at least help with. Even a cooking-challenged Dad can put these brunch ideas together.

 1. Simple Finger Foods Brunch

Here is an easy finger foods brunch idea that can be served to mom in bed. It’s easy to fix and easy to eat, with no need for even a fork! Feel free to substitute any of these suggestions for other finger foods you may like.

  •  Boiled eggs, cut in half
  • Slices of bacon or ham
  • Toast, with butter and/or jelly
  • Fruit, such as strawberries, on the side

Boiling eggs is easy. Get water to boiling on the stove, add in eggs, and boil for seven minutes. Cool under running water. Peel, cut in half, sprinkle with a bit of salt and pepper, and serve. Add a few pieces of cooked bacon or ham, or leave this out completely. Instead of toast, you might make some simple muffins from a mix. Slice up Mom’s favorite fruit, add a cup of orange juice, milk, coffee, or hot tea, and voila! Put everything on a tray and serve Mom breakfast in bed.

2. Pancakes or Waffles with Fruit

Another simple breakfast to make for Mom is pancakes. Who doesn’t love fluffy pancakes topped with syrup? If you want to make them from scratch, go ahead, but an easier way is to mix them up from a baking mix or buy frozen ones and pop them in the toaster. You can do the same with waffles. Top with sliced fresh fruit and syrup, perhaps even a dollop of whipped cream, and you have a delightful Mother’s Day brunch.

3. Grilled Cheese Sandwich and Fruit

Another Mother’s Day brunch idea is the simple grilled cheese sandwich. If you think Mom would lean toward lunch rather than breakfast items, this will be a nice treat. Just put two slices—or more-- of her favorite cheeses between two slices of her favorite bread. Butter the outsides of the bread. Put it in a pan on medium heat, cooking until cheese is melted and bread is browned slightly. For added crunch and flavor, consider adding cooked bacon or ham before cooking sandwich. Slice sandwich diagonally (for looks!) and serve with fruit.

 4. Omelets

If Mom likes eggs, omelets are a perfect Mother’s Day brunch item. Three eggs, mixed up with a bit of water or milk, will make a basic omelet. Spread out in a 10 inch pan, cooking it slowly. As the egg starts to cook just a little, add the ingredients to go inside. There are many choices: crumbled bacon, ham, or sausage; shredded cheese; chopped onions, tomatoes, mushrooms, green peppers; black or green olives; and even spinach. Omelets are great topped with sour cream or salsa, too! Of course, you can add a piece of toast or some fruit on the side.

 5. Egg Salad

Egg salad is another perfect meal for a Mother’s Day brunch. From boiled eggs, adding mayonnaise, mustard, and relish or pickles, you can make egg salad to put in a sandwich or on a bed of lettuce. Adding tuna, ham, chicken, or turkey is another option. Here are several egg salad recipes  to get you on the right track. Egg salad can even be served with crackers, alongside sliced fruit.

 6. Quiche

If you really want to test your cooking skills, opt for a quiche. While a quiche isn’t really difficult to make, it does require a little more effort, in addition to some time in the oven. I have a favorite spinach quiche with swiss cheese that I adore, and there are many more options than that. Instead of spinach, you might fill your quiche with eggs only. Or eggs with ham or other meat. Or just eggs and cheese. The possibilities are endless. You can also make it easier on yourself and purchase a pre-made frozen quiche. Slice it up, serve with some fruit, and you have a perfect brunch for Mom. She will be impressed with quiche, no matter how you make it.

 7. Potatoes, potatoes, potatoes!

Who doesn’t love potatoes in some fashion? Potatoes are good for any meal, and brunch is no exception. Here are some simple potato recipe ideas. You can make homemade hash browns by grating your potatoes directly into a skillet with oil, or you can buy frozen hash browns. You can chop up potatoes to cook on the stove, in the microwave, or in the oven. Serve with anything, such as the egg salad you made, or the quiche you have in the oven. Or serve a simple meal of potatoes and ham. Potatoes are versatile and pair well with just about any type of food.
